ci(docs): copy shots into git top-level; fix imagemagick install; add diagnostics

The generator captured all 12 shots in CI but the docker cp landed them relative
to the step CWD while regenerate-and-commit.sh operates from the git top-level,
so git saw no changes. Copy into $ROOT/docs and run from $ROOT. Also apt-get
update before installing imagemagick, and log the container/runner trees + git
status to diagnose.
