Clarify transfer_image re-read: capture uploaded flag on its own line

Restructures the conditional re-read so the always-runs upload_mismatches
call reads as unconditional and only the re-read is gated on its return
value -- clearer than embedding the upload call in a modifier-if
condition (which also read as a syntax error to Copilot, though a trailing
`if` legally continues to the next line).
