Let ruff fix what it can before the lint gate runs

Contributors were getting a red cross for quote styles and docstring
capitalisation that ruff rewrites without any help from a person. Pull
requests now apply every available fix before the gate runs and report
only what is left, which is always a question someone has to answer.
The autofix.ci app commits those same fixes to the branch, forks
included, so nobody has to run the formatter by hand.

Pushes to develop and master still check the tree exactly as it is, so
non-conforming code cannot land even with the app uninstalled.
