Collapse the whitespace in the XML of all targets (#725)

`whiteSpace` is fixed to `collapse` for every atomic XSD datatype except
a string and the types derived from it by restriction, and a schema
author can not change it. So

    <someFloat> 1.0 </someFloat>

is a perfectly good document, and so is one which puts the value of
an element on a line of its own, as a pretty-printer will. All six
targets refused both.

The text of an element is therefore normalized before it is matched:
a tab, a line feed and a carriage return each become a space, a run of
spaces becomes one space, and the leading and trailing spaces go. Mind
that this strips only the whitespace *around* the value -- a space
within it survives as a single space, so `2  3` becomes `2 3`, which is
still no number, and is still refused.

A string keeps its whitespace, as `xs:string` is `preserve` and not
`collapse`, and so does a literal of an enumeration.

`xs:base64Binary` asks for more than collapsing. Its grammar admits
a space after every character and not merely around the value, so
the whitespace is dropped altogether before the text reaches a decoder.
