chore: keep common editor/OS ignores in the repo .gitignore

Restores .DS_Store, .vscode/, .idea/ and the devcontainer entries dropped
in #3343 (the stale-path removals from that PR stand). Policy stated in
the file: these are carried in-repo, as on the 1.x branch, so a stray
artifact never surfaces as untracked or lands in a commit regardless of a
contributor's global excludesfile.
