Move to go 1.26 and refresh dependencies

Raise the go directive from 1.24.0 to 1.26.0 and the workflow's go-version
to match, so CI no longer builds on an older toolchain than go.mod
declares. Update direct and indirect dependencies, then go mod tidy, which
drops go-spew and go-difflib now that testify 1.12 no longer needs them.

go fix rewrote nothing.
