Align composition tests and validator factory with merged master

Reconcile the object-routing work with master's composition changes:
re-integrate the issue #72 conflict-detection and example-only exclusion
into master's AbstractCompositionValidatorFactory, and migrate the
composition error-message assertions to master's wording (quoted
identifiers, singular/plural element(s), no trailing periods, summary-only
composition messages).
