Fix unused_try warnings across codebase

The string slicing operations (s[a:b], s[a:b].to_string(),
.has_prefix(), etc.) no longer raise errors, so the surrounding
catch { _ => panic() } clauses were unused. Removed 20 such
unused try/catch wrappers across 7 files.
