WIP: Improve listing of nodes

Listing of nodes is inefficient since it fetches all nodes into memory.
This commit adds the start of the work to fix this.
Instead of loading all nodes we return a generator that yields each ID.
Also, this requires that all calling function will handle this generator
properly.
