Fix unstable handling of dates

Some dates generated erroneous values (e.g. 32 March, 6999) when being
read in by the wind field generator. Changing the calendar in the netCDF
attributes to 'julian' (previously 'standard') appears to have resolved.
This could in fact be a problem with the date/time functions in the
netcdf4python module.
