Tests are now run directly previously they were invoked via bash generate.sh. The shell (#499)

and shebang field both customize shebang line. We had to modify shebang line
when using shell: python since we need to use default Shell (bash) instead of python
since we are running a shell script. The python script is invoked in separate file.

add documentation for shebang and shell field.
