tweak bind_flavours for classes with helpers

I have no idea why this change allows subclasses of paths that use
helper classes to suddenly properly inherit the helpers into their
platform specific subclasses, but it does. I'm guessing it has
something weird to do with inheritance of classmethods, super, and the
absense of any use of cls.thing in the old version, possibly a bug
caused by some over egar optimization? Who knows!
