Feature/delay schedule merge (#92)

Closes #91.

* accept dates in `delay` option for emissions

We can keep the internal use of `schedule` here as the expiry time
will need to be calculated for dates every time an emission is sent,
rather than just when the options are set.

* adjust error message to clarify new delay handling

* adjust tests to also check internal schedule state

* adjust docs to remove schedule

* fix bug referencing wrong var

* add test to ensure emit delay option parses dates correctly internally

* fix docs incorrectly marking delay as seconds

* fix tests incorrectly expecting emitter delay to be in seconds
