Implement asset merging

This changes the logic so both the websocket and XHR paths go through a
common method which attempts to merge the entire record — preserving
things like the title and campaign/project/item metdata which do not
change and are not included in the websocket updates — while retaining
the most recent values for the fields which do change regularly
(currently: status, difficulty, submitted_by, and latest_transcription).
