Refactor WebSocketTransport to use a single connection

Although a minimum of 2 simultaneous connections are allowed for
HTTP based transports, for the websocket transport no more then
a single connection is allowed in some instances. The number of
simultaneous connections probably depends on the server side
configuration or on the specific implementation.
