Cleanup the new API output a bit.

- Hide the fact that mongo uses '_id' internally, and use 'id' publicly
(the fact that we're using mongo doesn't seem like it should be relevant
 to the public api).

- Standardize that the users API calls things just 'user' and not
'api_user'.
