Fix coord_trans to work with reverse transforms

Matplotlib lays out the axes depending on the order of the limits.
If (low, high), the conventional order is used; if (high, low) the
order is reversed. The issue is our limits when "reversed" (x -1),
ended up in the wrong order for matplotlib.
