Log config building in buildlog

We started running into build failures where the configuration itself
fails to build. Since these failures are not logged, the recipients have
hard time figuring them out.

More importantly, broken build will try to add the nonexistent buildlog
(since nothing is logged) to the report, throwing an exception an
aborting. Yay.
