ch: Modify tests to use internal list rather than external one

Modified tests to use an internal self.req_db list rather than
the one provided in the RequestHelper instance. Added a test to
check that RequestHelper has a self.req_db attribute.
Also modified the test for changing requests since it was giving
a reference before definition error.
