* python3 modernize open() => io.open() and convert unicode homoglyphs in
comments to their ASCII equivalents.
* Update regenerate_samples.py to make it easier to run with changes to the generation code.
  Run `python samples/regenerate_samples.py` to update the messages
  samples taking into account changes in the current branch.
