error-handling: Add timeout on each event polling error

This is a seemingly too simple solution. But actually it does not
need to be more sophisticated because:

* waiting for 5 seconds reduces the requests from dozens (hundreds)
to a one or less per 5 seconds (good enough)
* the case where a webpage continues to connect to the server for
hours (the user has left his browser) does not exist in mobile
where we will stop processing if the app is switched out of or the
phone is in sleep mode
