Run the test suite on Mac OS X*

While I never specifically intended for vcs-repo-mgr to be used on Apple
systems, a colleague of mine has been trying to do exactly this and has
run into a number of issues that are probably caused by platform
incompatibilities in vcs-repo-mgr and/or its dependencies.

I'm not sure whether it's even feasible to get the vcs-repo-mgr test
suite running on Mac OS X on Travis CI so I'm considering just diving in
and fixing vcs-repo-mgr and/or test suite incompatibilities as I go...
