feat: Moving test-automation from mocha to ava

Ava has first class support for parallel test cases - which is the primary motivator to move to ava
as the test automation tooling. Also, moving from istanbul to nyc. Cleaning up package.json.

BREAKING CHANGE: All tests will have to be re-implemented in AVA.
