add knitr::opts_chunk$append() (#1417)

* add append to knitr_opts

i extended the defaults idea in my [pkg](https://github.com/metrumresearchgroup/sinew/blob/master/R/defaults.R), to include the option of appending to an object to the the default values if they are a vector, so user can grow options from a minimal default set.

thought it could also be useful here too

* add test for knitr::opts_chunk$append

* add name to authors as ctb

* fix Yihui comments

* alphabetical order

* factor out the common parts of set() and append()

* spaces

* move tests to test-closure.R

* add $append() tests to test-closure.R
