Update test most: mock send_mail instead of the thread

mocking the send_mail method makes much more sence b/c we
can check if it has been executed or not. Besides the current
mock doesn't seem to be doing anything useful b/c it's mocking
thread.Thread and pretty much doing the same it does - execute
the send_mail method!
