Test grammars in the examples directory

Ensure that the examples are also tested along with the test suite.

The commit also contains "fallout changes":
- `--encoding` CLI option is added to the generator to enable the
  generation of non-ascii output (which may or may not cause
  problems depending on locale settings not controlled by us).
- some CLI help messages are further beautified.
- the "test command comment" handling of grammars is refactored to
  allow its reuse in different test files and as a standalone tool
  as well.
