Update .travis.yml and improve test output; drop 1.4, 1.6, 1.7

- drop Go 1.4, 1.6, 1.7; the stack trace cannot be parse correctly w.r.t
  the unit test. 1.6 and 1.7 should probably fixed but 1.4 is kinda old.
- add 1.8; it passes just fine
- use latest of each Go version
- include test name in failure
