app: Implement fade function for flash elements

Inspired by the example from http://vanilla-js.com/ but Promise-ified
and a bit more robust, while much more lightweight than jQuery's
fadeIn/fadeOut. In preparation for flashing success and failure messages
when creating or updating a link.
