Cleanup due to upstream changes to engine.populate

- Within the re-rendering, use the actual render method instead of
  populate to avoid recreating the Model as that the init method will be
  called again
- In the tests, no longer need to simulate page load given that the
  populate method will also apply the correct triggers when called.  If
  called again, it will reapply all the handlers on the anchors, which
  will result in an additional state pushed for each of those links,
  which will result in requiring the user to push back twice.
