[#724] Add strict compiler flags and clean up codebase (#773)

Closes #724

## Changes:

- Remove unused parameters (or ignore them) and variables
- Add explicit `this` typing for functions that needed them
- Add explicit `any` for whatever needed them
- Update grunt-ts to support TS 2.1.4
- Added generic `GameEvent` to support better strong typing
