Remove DIG interface, use concrete type (#355)

There is no reason for the Graph interface to exist, in fact it makes some things more difficult.

Also tidied up some docs to illustrate that global graph is not the only way (in fact the trend is moving away completely from using the global graph, but more on that later)

This has no API implications for consumers
