Refactor Read to take a PipelineStage interface instead of channels

This will help in a few ways:
- When a retry channel is added, the Source and Processor interfaces
don't have to change.
- Fewer arguments to Read, and only the ones that are used can be
retrieved.
- The Source and Processor interfaces are the same.
