FEATURE: introduce default pattern for phone numbers

Currently, if a number is invalid, we simply return a sanitized version
of the number that was given to us. This commit adds the ability to set
a "default pattern" that is used in the scenarios that no pattern can be
found through google. This is certainly a heavy handed approach, but it
probably beats unformatted strings.
