Improve performance of repeated calls to Mat_VarWrite

* In private _mat_t structure hold and synchronize the list of all variable names of a MAT file, called the "directory"
* When writing to a MAT file, use this directory for a faster check if a variable already exists in a MAT file
* Add Mat_GetDir to the public API, too
* As reported by https://sourceforge.net/p/matio/bugs/23/
