Single VM: Fix a bug in the cleanup.sh script

When running setup.sh and cleanup.sh multiple times from the same
shell it's easy to mess up your /etc/hosts file if you forget to
run source ~/local/demo.sh after each run of setup.sh. The reason
is that cleanup.sh will be using an out of date environment variable
to locate the backup file for the /etc/hosts file. It's easy to
forget to source ~/local/demo.sh the second time you run setup.sh
as your cluster should function with the old variables. This commit
ensures that the backup /etc/hosts file exists before running cleanup,
which should catch this error.
