abandon use of linklocal

In the end linklocal was causing to many problems:

1. duplicate typescript type declaration errors
2. friction with shrinkwrap and install/uninstall of deps

The problem with duplicate declaration errors might be
solveable either by:

1. ensuring demo-app and library code being organised
into sibling folders that do NOT share a common
node_modules parent folder
2. somehow teaching awsome-typescript-loader
about where to resolve the @types (or maybe it's a
bug in the vs of loader we're using as duplicate type
errors have been removed as of typescript v2)
