Address greptile feedback: benchmark smoke-test + README prerequisite

Two P2 comments from greptile PR review:

- perf/compare.civet was discarding the `prevParser.parse(input)` and
  `currParser.parse(input)` smoke-test return values, so a silent
  `undefined` (parse failure on a changed grammar) would surface only
  as suspiciously high throughput.  Now throws immediately with the
  sample name and which side failed.
- perf/README.md didn't mention that the scripts require `pnpm build`
  first; added a note at the top so new contributors don't chase a
  MODULE_NOT_FOUND.

Skipping greptile's third comment (in-place \$\$r.value mutation could
corrupt memoization caches) — verified in prev's dist/machine.js that
\$T/\$TR/\$TS/\$TV all mutate result.value on line 233/247/261/275.
The mutation behavior is identical to prev; this PR does not broaden
the footprint.
