refactor: cleanup comments and reduce duplication

- remove unnecessary godoc comments that repeat code names
- remove "consumer-side" and "Go idiom" meta-commentary
- use enum.FormatNames instead of duplicated supportedFormats
- use enum constants in Validate() switch cases
- move sortModeLabel to closure inside templateFuncs()
- reorganize helper functions in keys.go
- convert standalone comments to inline where appropriate
