testutil: send status from go routine

The senders block on writing the results channel until a reader reads the
channel or a shutdown closes all the channels.  This SSNTP server call into
client handlers such as DisconnectNotify(), ConnectNotify(), etc. are not
in goroutines, so the client implementation of those MUST NOT block.
