working branch with pytest running tests

- pytest install: Installed `pytest` and `pytest-cov` through pip. Conda
  installs are possible, but require using the anaconda channel.
  Initial attempts to add this to the first line possibly failed due to using the
  miniconda channel.
- I was not able to remove nose from the list of packages in the first
  line, and get the travis tests to compile. Not quite sure why.
- Using these packages, we can change the statement of test script to
  now test using py.test and report the coverage
	modified:   .travis.yml
