Added general-purpose `store_linked` to `Schema`

Added a more-or-less general-purpose mechanism for creating a
"linked document", i.e. a new document that's associated to an
existing document. This is nontrivial for reentrant situations.

Cleaned up and added some unit tests, and fixed an aliasing issue
in `_preprocess_document`.
