Auto merge of #58 - ligthyear:code-style, r=ligthyear

Enforce Standard-JS and PEP-8 Coding Standards

To improve the code quality and to ensure it stays up even when
merging code from various places I added support for standard-js
and pep-8 linters. Using Flake8 and eslint, these will now always
be automatically be run by travis (after the tests) and will alert
if bad code wants to sneak in. Both also run fine in vagrant.

Aside from adding them and their configuration, this PR did cosmetic
changes to the code files to make them pass those tests. In some
cases it even alerted us about bugs, we haven't yet run into.

The documentation has been updated accordingly.
