[BUGFIX] Prevent warning when `ord()` handles multibyte string on PHP 8.5 (#1660)

On PHP 8.5 we get the following warning when processing variable with
multibyte characters e.g.

```
body { --café: 1; }
```

`Providing a string that is not one byte long is deprecated.`
