Finalize pytest migration (#3484)

### Summary

Complete the migration to `pytest`:
* remove `ddt` as a dependency, as well as the now unused decorators
* remove now unused `TestCase` children
* move items from `test/utils.py` specific to integration to
`test/integration/utils.py`
* fix `test_backend_serialization.py` collection
* convert smoke test to `pytest`
* rename the integration test dependencies for a more concise name and
explicit location
* update documentation
