Convert test/unit (legacy) to bare asserts (#3468)

### Summary

Convert unittest-style asserts (`self.assertX`) into bare asserts in
most of `test/unit`, excluding the folders related to client-side
primitives.

* `IBMTestCase` assert-like methods are removed
* when original tests contained messages, they are dropped. The codebase
already was heavily geared towards not containing messages in asserts,
and usually we should have enough information about the error cause just
by raising
* some constructs that don't have a direct equivalent (`assertRaises`,
`assertLogs`, ...) but do have a pytest equivalent are kept, to be
tackled in the final rounds.
