stepper: the step slider counts from 0 (#159)

* feat(stepper): the step slider counts from 0 and labels its last value

As in the e-stepper and the CSE machine: 0 is the start, the right end is the
number of steps taken, and both ends are labelled (the label helper is shared).
The welcome text's even/odd note follows the numbering.
