doc: put `-n 1` in the test gate -- it is a CI leg the gate never named

The gate documented here was serial + `-n 2`; CI runs serial, `-n 1`, `-n 2` and
`-n 3`. `-n 1` is the one rank count a multi-rank precondition cannot satisfy, so
it is also the only leg a correct-looking local run cannot stand in for.

ca92fcd shipped exactly that: its gate line reads "MPI, -n 2 and -n 3" -- the
gate as written, followed exactly -- and
`test_the_ranks_per_node_count_is_attached_to_the_communicator_not_to_its_handle`
was red on every Tests run from then until c390c2b. Two runs failed before anyone
looked.

`-n 1` is also the first MPI step in the job, so a failure there takes the `-n 2`,
`-n 3`, both coverage and all three rank-invariance steps down with it: five steps
that had not executed on master for two days. That is the part worth documenting
next to the gate rather than only in a commit body.

Also records the fix shape for a test that genuinely cannot hold at one rank --
`skipif(MPI.COMM_WORLD.size == 1, reason=...)`, not a version that runs at one
rank on only the assertions that happen to hold, which for that test would have
passed while touching nothing it exists to check.

Doc only; no code and no test change, so the gate result from c390c2b stands
(serial 2341; -n 1 2585; -n 2 2601/2600; -n 3 2606/2605/2605; guards 5 at each
of -n 1, -n 2, -n 3).
