fix: harden reference handling and update dependencies

Copy non-mutating input once while preserving shared objects and cycles.
Report normalization and plugin failures through the correct error channel,
resolve only own pointer properties, handle null values consistently, and
cancel unused HTTP response bodies.

Update dependencies and compatible transitives, move to pnpm 12 and Vitest 5,
lock semantic-release, and adapt the browser test launcher for native pnpm.
Build the package in CI and limit coverage to library TypeScript sources.

Validation: 599 Node tests and 558 jsdom tests passed; build, type checks,
lint, formatting, frozen install, and Node 22.19.0 package smoke checks passed.
