Fix Python expression preview not showing errors. Fixes #3012 (#7719)

* Fix Python expression preview not showing errors (#3012)

The inner catch block in PreviewExpressionCommand silently swallowed
exceptions during expression evaluation, causing errors to display as
"null" instead of proper error messages. Convert caught exceptions to
EvalError using the Throwable constructor for null-safe messages.

Added unit test and Cypress E2E regression test.
