Simplify tooling configs and update to current Node versions (#929)

- Replace abandoned esbuild-jest with the already-installed ts-jest
  and drop the @types/jest workaround in favor of an explicit types
  entry in tsconfig
- Write a minimal standalone tsconfig, removing the @tsconfig/recommended
  dependency (ignoreDeprecations stays: tsup's dts build still sets the
  deprecated baseUrl option under TypeScript 6)
- Trim tsup config to essentials with a single explicit entry point;
  dts output (.d.ts/.d.cts) verified in dist and via publint
- Add top-level module/types fields and simplify the files allowlist
- Inline lint-staged config into package.json and delete the empty
  .coveralls.yml
- CI: test on supported Node lines (22/24/26) instead of EOL 18/20,
  drop continue-on-error so failures actually fail, and read the
  coverage job's Node version from .node-version
- Bump .node-version to 26.3.0 (latest) and engines to >=22
